I know I've been lax in keeping up posts on this blog and I apologize, but I've been preoccupied with a few other projects, including a photogblog. If you haven't checked that one out you should, since it has a lot of pictures of the kids on it.
As for today, this was one great day. I was greeted in bed by three smiling faces and some wonderful cards and kisses. Then we ran around and got ready to meet some friends for a canoe trip on the Charles that included a stop for a picnic brunch.
Shoshi kept wanting to stand up in the boat and didn't like being told "no." Ben kept pretty still and enjoyed the view, but this is really where Alex belongs. During the trip out he said he wanted to row up front on the way back and during the trip back, he did! He did a great job too, not getting tired and not giving up.
After dropping off the canoes we went home and got ready for the second part of our day: a bike ride. For this one I had to push a bit, since no one really wanted to go, even with the promise of ice cream at the end. But after much prodding and help from Ellen (who was a little ambivalent about the whole adventure) the boys agreed to break away from the computer and get outside. Shoshi basically just followed along and got in her trailer (where she promptly fell asleep).
And after all the complaining and moaning, Alex had the most fun of all. This was the first decent-length bike ride he's taken on his own, about 8 miles, and he loved every minute. In fact, he really didn't want it to end. Though, he wasn't about to turn down ice cream.
Now three very tired children are actually asleep, which is probably the best gift of all!
